Freecash vs Swagbucks: which one actually pays you more for your time
Quick answer
Freecash is better for game and app offers and fast cash once your ID is verified, though PayPal withdrawals carry a 5% fee. Swagbucks is better if you shop online often, because its cash back at stores like Amazon and Walmart adds up with no extra effort. Many people use both: Swagbucks for shopping, Freecash for offers.
In the Freecash vs Swagbucks question, Freecash is better if you want to earn from game and app offers and cash out fast in real money. Swagbucks is better if you shop online often, because its cash back on everyday purchases can be worth more than any amount of tasks. For surveys alone, they're close, and it mostly comes down to which one sends you more surveys you qualify for.
We don't work for either. We run Vazpop, a rewards site built on many of the same offer walls, so we know how both work from the inside. Every fact below comes from their own help pages or App Store listings, checked on 12 October 2026.

How you earn on each
Freecash: offers first
Freecash is an offer wall site. Most of the money is in "install this game and reach level 30" or "sign up and make a first deposit" tasks, served through outside walls. Freecash's own offerwall guide lists Ayet Studios, Torox, Lootably, CPX Research, MM Wall, TimeWall and BitLabs. A single big game offer can pay $20 to $100, but it can also take weeks of play to finish.
Swagbucks: lots of small things
Swagbucks is wider and slower. You earn SB for surveys, watching content, daily goals and trivia, plus game offers. Its real strength is cash back: shop at stores like Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy or Booking.com through Swagbucks and you get a percentage back, as its App Store listing describes. Rates vary by store, so check the store's page first.

Cashing out: where the real differences are
This is where people get caught out, so it's worth reading the small print.
Freecash says your first withdrawal has a minimum of $5 to $20 depending on your region, and you'll verify your ID with a government document and a selfie, per its first withdrawal guide. After that first one, there's no threshold. PayPal runs from $5 to $200 per withdrawal and carries a 5% fee, according to its PayPal help page. Gift cards and crypto are there too.
Swagbucks pays out as gift cards (Amazon, Target, Walmart, Apple and many more) or PayPal cash. How many SB each reward costs depends on the reward and your country, and members often report that the first PayPal cashout costs more SB than the smallest gift card. Look at the rewards store inside your own account before you plan around a number from a blog post, including this one.
One practical tip: if you mostly want Amazon spending money, gift cards avoid fees on both sites. If you need actual cash, Freecash's 5% PayPal fee costs you $1 on a $20 withdrawal, which still might beat waiting weeks on Swagbucks to reach a bigger PayPal amount.
Holds and pending rewards
Both sites hold rewards while advertisers confirm you did what the offer asked. Freecash explains that held offers show as "Pending" in Cashouts, can't be released early by support, and don't show an estimated release time (see what are held offers). Swagbucks also marks some earnings as pending, especially cash back, which only confirms once the store has passed its return window. On some purchases that can take a month or more.
Neither is unusual. Advertisers reverse rewards for refunds and fraud, and every honest reward site has to wait for them. It's worth knowing before you count money you haven't been paid yet. We go into why in our guide to apps that pay you to sign up.
Which one should you use?
- You play mobile games anyway: Freecash. Game offers are where the bigger money is, and that's what it's built around.
- You shop online every week: Swagbucks, at least for the cash back. Use it every time you buy from a store it covers.
- You want quick small cashouts: Freecash after your first verified withdrawal, or a survey app built for small cashouts.
- You want gift cards for groceries or Amazon: either works. Swagbucks has the longer gift card list.
- You live outside the US, UK or Canada: check both in your country. Offer counts and payouts drop sharply in smaller markets on every reward site.
Plenty of people use both: Swagbucks only for shopping, Freecash for offers. That's a sensible setup, because the two barely overlap. If neither feels right, we list more options, sorted by how you like to earn, in sites like Freecash.
A note on comparing offers
When both sites list the same game, the reward isn't always the same. Many reward sites, including Freecash and ours, buy from the same offer walls and pass on different shares. Before you start anything that will take more than a day, search for the same offer on the other site. It's the cheapest raise you'll ever get. And if you'd rather see rewards in plain dollars with the hold shown as a countdown, that's how Vazpop works.
Frequently asked questions
Is Freecash or Swagbucks better?
Freecash is better for game and app offers. Swagbucks is better if you shop online, because of its cash back. For surveys alone they are close.
Does Freecash charge a fee for PayPal?
Yes. Freecash's help center says a 5% fee applies to PayPal withdrawals, which run from $5 to $200 each. Gift cards are a way to avoid it.
Can you use Freecash and Swagbucks at the same time?
Yes. They are separate companies and nothing stops you having an account on both. A common setup is Swagbucks for shopping cash back and Freecash for game offers.
Why is my Freecash or Swagbucks reward pending?
Both sites wait for the advertiser or store to confirm before releasing a reward. Freecash support cannot release held offers early, and Swagbucks cash back waits for the store's return window.
