Is InboxDollars legit? Cash-out rules and what recent reviews say
Quick answer
InboxDollars is legit. It's run by Prodege, has been around since 2000 and says it has paid over $70 million. You get a $5 bonus, cash out from $15 the first time and $10 after, to PayPal, gift cards or Visa. 60% of its 500 most recent written App Store reviews were 1 or 2 stars, mostly about payouts, support and low pay.
Is InboxDollars legit? Yes. It has been around since 2000, it's owned by Prodege, the company behind Swagbucks, and it says it has paid members more than $70 million. You earn in dollars, start with a $5 bonus, and can cash out from $15 the first time and $10 after that. The catch shows in its recent reviews: of the 500 most recent written App Store reviews we counted, 60% were 1 or 2 stars, the highest share of any survey app we've measured.
We run Vazpop, a rewards site with surveys and offers of our own, so we know how these platforms work from the inside. The facts below come from the official InboxDollars help center, its App Store listing, and public reviews we counted on 15 October 2026.
How InboxDollars pays
InboxDollars pays for surveys, polls, quizzes, shopping and offers, plus its PaidEmails, which pay a small amount for confirming promotional emails. Balances are in dollars and cents, not points. New members get a $5 welcome bonus after a short profile survey, according to its listing.
| What | InboxDollars |
|---|---|
| Company | Prodege LLC |
| Welcome bonus | $5 after the profile survey |
| First cash-out | $15 minimum |
| Later cash-outs | $10 minimum |
| Payout options | PayPal, gift cards, Visa |
| Processing | About 3 business days for gift cards and PayPal; up to 10 business days at busy times |
| App Store rating | 4.5 from about 224,000 ratings |
Three rules from the help center trip people up. Your InboxDollars name must match your PayPal name exactly, or the payment won't process. Your account must be active in the 10 days before a payment is processed, or the request can be denied. And you may be asked to verify your identity through Persona with a photo of your ID and a selfie, or to verify a real US mobile number (no Google Voice or VoIP).
What 500 recent reviews say
We pulled the 500 most recent written US reviews (January 2025 to October 2026) from Apple's public feed. They averaged 2.54 stars against a lifetime 4.5. Here's what the 1 and 2 star ones were about, sorted by keyword. Many mention several things, so read these as patterns.
| Complaint in 1 and 2 star reviews | Share |
|---|---|
| Cashing out or getting paid | 22% |
| Support | 21% |
| Low pay for the time | 17% |
| Account closed or suspended | 6% |
| Screened out of surveys | 6% |
The pattern behind many of them is time. One reviewer spent 20 minutes on a survey only to have it stall near the end. Another simply asked to get some credit when kicked out of a survey. Support comes up almost as often as payouts, which usually means people hit a problem and then couldn't get it resolved quickly.
Why the reviews are harsher than the rating
InboxDollars' 4.5 lifetime rating comes from years of quick ratings, many prompted at good moments. Written reviews skew toward people with a problem. That gap appears in almost every app in our study of reward app reviews. InboxDollars' gap is wider than most, and the $15 first cash-out is part of it: a higher first target means more people give up, or hit a check, before they see any money.
How to get paid without problems
- Use your real name, and make it match PayPal exactly. This one rule causes a lot of stuck payments.
- Verify early. If you're asked for ID or a mobile number, do it before you request a payout.
- Stay active. Log in or confirm a PaidEmail in the 10 days before your payment is processed.
- Pick surveys that fit your profile. Long surveys you're unlikely to qualify for are where the wasted time comes from.
- Choose your payout carefully. InboxDollars says processed gift cards can't be returned to your account.
PaidEmails, explained
PaidEmails are InboxDollars' oldest feature: promotional emails that pay a small amount when you open them and click the "Confirm this PaidEmail" button. The help center says that button is the only way to get credit, and that completing the offer inside the email pays an extra reward on top.
Two catches. Accounts that earn mostly or only through PaidEmails for long stretches may stop receiving them, according to the help center. And confirming a PaidEmail counts as activity, which helps keep your account active for payments. So they're worth confirming when they arrive, but they won't carry an account on their own.
What the happy reviews say
Of the 169 four and five star reviews in our sample, 18% say plainly that InboxDollars is legit or that they got paid, and only 6% mention fast payment. That fits the help center: payments are reliable but processed in days, not minutes. The happy reviewers tend to be long-time members who know the rules and cash out regularly.
InboxDollars vs Swagbucks
Both are Prodege sites with similar surveys and offers. Swagbucks counts in points called SB, while InboxDollars shows real dollars and has the $15 first minimum. If you already use one, the other mostly adds more of the same surveys. Our Freecash vs Swagbucks comparison covers how Swagbucks stacks up against a newer style of rewards site.
How much you can make
InboxDollars is pocket money for most people. Surveys pay modest amounts, PaidEmails pay cents, and offers pay more but take longer. A realistic goal is reaching your first $15 within a couple of weeks of steady use, then $10 cash-outs after that. If surveys are your main interest, our guide to making money taking surveys online covers how to raise your hourly rate.
On Vazpop, the first cash-out is $5 with no difference between first and later payouts, and you see each offer's reward and time estimate before you start. Using two sites side by side is normal: surveys and offers vary from one platform to the next.
Is InboxDollars legit? Our verdict
InboxDollars is a legitimate, long-running rewards site that pays real money. Its weak spots are a higher first cash-out than most, strict name and activity rules, and support that recent reviewers often found slow. Follow the rules above, expect small earnings, and it does what it says.
