Is TesterUp legit? The cashout minimum, and what 500 recent reviews report
Quick answer
TesterUp is legit and pays to PayPal, often within a few days once you qualify. The catch is a high cashout minimum: recent reviewers most often quote $55 or $70, with reports from $35 to $75. In its 500 most recent written App Store reviews, 35% were 1 or 2 stars, and 55% of those were about cashing out. It suits patient gamers, not people who want small, frequent cashouts.
Is TesterUp legit? Yes. It has been on the App Store since 2017, and plenty of recent reviewers say they've been paid to PayPal, some of them hundreds of dollars. The catch is the cashout minimum. TesterUp doesn't show it in its App Store listing, but recent reviewers most often quote $55 or $70 for a first cashout, which can take weeks or months of game offers to reach. Of its 500 most recent written reviews, 35% were 1 or 2 stars, and more than half of those were about cashing out.
We run Vazpop, a rewards site in the same space, so we know how game offer apps work behind the scenes. The facts here come from TesterUp's App Store listing and from 500 public App Store reviews we counted on 12 October 2026. TesterUp's help center blocked our requests, so where we couldn't confirm a rule from TesterUp itself, we say so.
What TesterUp is
TesterUp is made by aestimium GmbH. Its App Store listing describes paid surveys and tasks, says you "get paid within 24 hours via PayPal", and shows a 4.2 star rating from about 75,000 ratings. In practice, recent reviews are almost all about one thing: game offers. You install a game through TesterUp and earn at set levels or goals before a deadline.
The cashout minimum, as reviewers report it
This is the question most people searching "is TesterUp legit" really want answered. Among the 500 reviews, these are the cashout amounts people quoted when talking about the minimum:
| Minimum quoted | Reviews mentioning it |
|---|---|
| $70 | 18 |
| $55 | 18 |
| $60 | 8 |
| $50 | 6 |
| $35 | 6 |
| $75 | 4 |
The spread suggests the minimum isn't the same for everyone, or has changed over time. Several reviewers say it moved (one wishes it were still $20 instead of $35, another says it went from no minimum to $75), and some say you can only withdraw in set steps rather than your exact balance. So assume your first cashout will be somewhere between $35 and $75, and check the number in your own app before you start.
The good news: once people reach it, many say payment arrives quickly. Of the 281 reviews with 4 or 5 stars, 45 specifically mention being paid or cashing out, often within one to three days to PayPal. PayPal looks like the only cash option, which one reviewer flagged as a problem because they don't use PayPal.

What 500 recent reviews say
The reviews cover 18 August to 10 October 2026 and average 3.39 stars, against a lifetime rating of 4.2. Among the 175 reviews with 1 or 2 stars:
| Complaint | Share of bad reviews |
|---|---|
| Cashing out (minimum too high, payout refused or stuck) | 55% |
| Support not helping | 29% |
| Game progress not tracking | 15% |
| Pay too low for the time | 15% |
| Account deactivated | 8% |
Two other patterns are worth knowing before you start:
- Rewards changing mid-offer. A handful of reviewers say a goal's reward dropped after they started, for example from $25 to $12.50. Screenshot the reward and deadline when you begin.
- Face verification at cashout. Some reviewers got stuck at the verification step with a balance waiting. Use your real details from day one so they match.
TesterUp's 55% cashout share was the highest of the eight apps in our study of 4,000 reward app reviews. That fits a high minimum: the longer people grind toward a cashout, the more it hurts if anything goes wrong at the end.
How long it takes to reach the minimum
Reviewers' own timelines vary wildly, which tells you how much depends on the games you get:
- "Only took me about a month to hit the $55 cash out requirement."
- "Took me 4 months to get $150 cashout."
- "The first payout took two months."
- "I only been playing about a week and already cashed out $60."
- "I'm only halfway to the cash out minimum" after more than three years of casual use.
The difference is usually one good game. People who cash out fast found a game with big, reachable milestones and played it hard. People who never get there spread their time across games that pay a few cents per goal. Pick one or two games with clear rewards and focus on those.
Is TesterUp legit and worth it?
It depends on how you play. TesterUp suits people who already play a lot of mobile games, don't mind waiting for a bigger payout, and can stick with one or two games until they reach the minimum. It's a poor fit if you want to cash out small amounts often, or if you only have a few minutes a day.
Some habits that make it safer:
- Check your minimum on day one and do the maths. If a game pays $8 over two weeks and your minimum is $70, that's a long road.
- Pick games with short, clear goals, not "reach level 1,400 in 30 days".
- Don't spend money to hit a milestone. Several reviewers paid for in-game items and still didn't get credited.
- Keep screenshots of each reward, deadline and milestone.
- Never use a VPN, including while travelling. Reviewers report deactivations for being "out of region".
TesterUp alternatives with lower minimums
If the minimum is the deal breaker, plenty of apps let you cash out much smaller amounts. KashKick needs $10, Freecash has no threshold after a verified first withdrawal, and Scrambly lists $1 to PayPal (see is Scrambly legit). Vazpop's minimum is $5 in every country, to PayPal, gift cards or USDC. For a fuller list, see sites like Freecash and our guide to making money playing games on your phone.
